Actually, foxholes and trenches are both associated with WW1. WWII saw a greater emphasis on tank warfare and more mobile combat compared to the static trench warfare of WWI. Foxholes were still used, but perhaps not as extensively.
Foxholes were WWI. I think WW2 was trenches.
